Sun damage, pollution, mindless rubbing, cumbersome makeup removal and aging. All this leads to the fact that the skin around the eyes is the first to “decay”.
Unlike eyelid lift surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, plasma eyelid lift is the newest non-surgical procedure. It helps to tighten the eyelid skin and minimize the effects of eye aging . The best part? It involves no cuts and requires minimal downtime.
Eyelid lift with plasma is a procedure to tighten, lift and rejuvenate the skin on the upper eyelid, all without surgery. And just for your information – while it sounds like it’s plasma in the blood, it’s actually plasma as a high-energy current. The fourth state of matter, plasma, is an ionized gas that can conduct a large and sustained electric current. Sun, fire and lightning are examples of plasma.
Without touching the skin, a handheld device (which looks like a small pen) is moved over the surface of the eyelid to tighten the skin and promote collagen production. The pen works by ionizing gases in the air to create a small electric arc, similar to lightning, that can be used to rejuvenate problem areas without damaging surrounding areas. The Plasma Pen projects an ionized, low-frequency arc of plasma onto the skin’s surface, vaporizing the skin at the point of contact and causing immediate contraction and tightening of skin fibers.
In a nutshell, the device essentially heats the dermis in the targeted area (your eyelids), which then falls off after the treatment, tightening the skin and creating fresher skin.
The treatment is quite versatile and can be used on different areas of the face. The Plasma Pen is used especially for frown lines, forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, drooping eyelids, and in the area below the eye.

Before the eyelid lift without surgery with the Plasma Pen, a topical anesthetic cream is applied . We leave this on for about 30 minutes. Treatment is then performed by placing dots in a specific pattern on the eyelid and lateral temporal region. After completion, a powder and a fixative spray is applied to cover the points and heal the tissue.
Most people can expect about five days of downtime during which makeup cannot be worn. Redness and swelling occur immediately after treatment, with swelling peaking in the two days following treatment. It is important not to cool the area as swelling is an important part of the process. There will also be conspicuous dot markings in the treatment area. These tiny, needle-like dots are pieces of ablated tissue that have formed into scabs. These last about four to seven days – and you must avoid scratching them open or getting them wet to avoid scarring. Once the scab has fallen off, you can resume your normal activities and wear makeup to cover any remaining redness.
Generally, two treatments are required. However, whether further treatments are needed depends on the degree of flaccidity. The full effect of the initial treatment is visible after 12 weeks. At this point, if necessary, a second tightening and lifting treatment can be performed with the Plasma Pen for eyelid lift without surgery.
CAUTION: It is important to carefully select who will perform your Plasma Pen treatment. Many beauty salons usually have inferior equipment and do not have the same safety protocols.
